Disk error check at every boot in XP

This just started a few days ago. At every boot, the disk error checking starts and each time in the event viewer, no problems are ever reported.
The only way so far to stop this is by editing the registry to enable "empty page file at shutdown".
But this causes shutdowns to take forever!

Running XP Pro.
Any suggestions appreciated.

Are you running Norton's System Works for example? One feature of that is Norton's Disk Doctor which, if you 'tick' the optional "Fix Errors" box will result in Chkdsk running at bootup. Just a thought !

Thanks GORAL, Yes i do run NSW 2003, but it is not running at startup. Not enabled untill i want to use it.
I think the problem has been solved (For now, anyway!), by editing the registry to "AlwaysUnloadDLL" . Seems to be ok for now.

Thank you.

Mick.
