Disk boot failure

  Taram 13:37 27 Oct 2007

Hi I am having problems with my computer, When I turn it on it boots up ok, and when I am using the computer it is fine, but if I leave the computer standing for about 5 minutes without using it, it turns itself off and goes on to the black boot up screen saying, Disk boot failure, insert system disk and press enter. I do not have a windows xp disk. I was told to unplug the power lead from the computer and leave it unplugged over night I did this and the computer was fine for a few days, but it's starting doig the same thing again. I would be very grateful for any help.

I have Winows Xp Pro
Amd Athlon Xp 3000+
512 Ram

Many thanks

Have a look at your Power Options in Control Panel, see if anything there needs changing.

Hi Technotiger, I have checked my power options and these are the settings for Power schemes, it is on Home office desk, Turn off monitor never, turn off hard disks never, System standby never. On Hibernate settings, the enable hibernation is unchecked. On the UPS seting it says UPS service is currently stopped.
