Disk boot failure

  Sidetrax 12:17 20 Aug 2007

I have two hard drives, one IDE with XP installed on it, and one sata (500gb) with all my music/films etc.
When the two hard drives are connected and I try and boot into windows I get the ' Disk boot failure please insert system disk' error, even though both hard drives show up in BIOS. When the hard drive with XP on it is connected only, the PC will boot up fine and be rock solid, its only when I try to boot with the two HDD's that I get the problem.
Could anyone help me with getting both these working?

make sure the HD without xp on it is set as 'slave' and the one with xp on it is set as 'master'.

Look carefully in your BIOS. My Asus based systems have the option to set which hard drive to boot from. This is separate from the boot device order.
