Disabling SSID Broadcast

  Batch 18:35 27 Jul 2005

With SSID Broadcast disabled on a wireless router, when doing a site survey from a wireless device (e.g. laptop), I find that the router is still listed, with its wireless MAC address, but the SSID is not shown.

Is this the correct result of disabling SSID Broadcast, or should the router not show on a site survey at all?

Woodchip - do you mean:

Yes the router will show but you cannot connect without the SSID?

If not please can you clarify.

Yes that is what I said, You have to have the SSID on before you can connect. it's Like a Password
