Disable right click on blogger.com

Hi there,

Before I start I must point out I know nothing about HTML & web design.

I want to start a blog at blogger.com and have registered and posted a test page which all works fine - click here

However, I want to protect the content and I managed to get my hands on a right click disabler peice of HTML, here it is;

SCRIPT language=Javascript1.2>
// (C) 2003 Mrtrader888.com
// Source: Mrtrader888.com
// Do not remove this header
// Set the message for the alert box
am = "WTF are you trying to do - all content is Copyright Protected.";
// do not edit below this line
// ===========================
bV = parseInt(navigator.appVersion)
bNS = navigator.appName=="Netscape"
bIE = navigator.appName=="Microsoft Internet Explorer"
function nrc(e) {
if (bNS && e.which > 1){
return false
} else if (bIE && (event.button >1)) {
return false;
document.onmousedown = nrc;
if (document.layers) window.captureEvents(Event.MOUSEDOWN);
if (bNS && bV 5) window.onmousedown = nrc;

It came with the following instructions;

First you save the file to your desktop.
Do your lististing as normal and when your finished go to the
description page and go to the HTML View part.
Open the Ad Blocker file and click on edit and then click on SELECT ALL
and then right click your mouse on the file and click COPY.
Once thats done go back to the HTML View part and go down to the very bottom
of the listing and right click your mouse and click PASTE.
Make sure you ONLY paste the file at the bottom of the HTML part,
Otherwise it wont work.
Now go to the preview page and right click your mouse to see if it works.

To change the message into your own words,
make sure you write it between the (" ") gap.

Other then changing the message between the (" ") gap.

Thank You!!!

Ive followed the instructions but with no luck - all that happenes is that the right click disabler HTML text appears in text at the bottom of the blog page !

Do any forum members no where Im going wrong ? Are any of you familiar with blogger.com HTML and able to point out where I should insert this HTML ?

Any help would be appreciated :)

Thanks in advance.

Disable right click doesn't work to protect your content.

Most of the JavaScritpt applets work on some browsers, but nothing works on all of them as far as I am aware.

If your visitor has JavaScript disabled in their browser options it won't work at all.

Disable right click and pretty much all other methods of 'protecting' web page content simply don't work.

It doesn't stop you clicking on "View >> Source" in Internet Explorer, and all other browsers have similar code view options.

It also doesn't stop your visitors from simply saving your web page to their own computer and then rob any file(s) they may like from the saved document.

My own opinion is this : don't waste your time.

If you publish it online there are ways of getting at it - content protection is largely a myth.

Anything you publish on a blog is intended for public display - that's the whole point to blogging in the first place. If it's that important to you, don't publish it.

Even if one of us helps you get the script working it won't deter anyone who is remotely serious about swiping your content, so I'd suggest you save yourself the headaches and don't bother with it.

The Opera browser completely ignores most 'disable right click' scripts and others either ignore it or often don't run it as intended.

Lots of extra work for nothing...
