Hi
I just purchased a game and have discovered that i'm unable to take part in any internet play as i'm running directX 9 is there any way i can remove it ?.
os windows me

its unlikely that direct x is the culprit. In fact most games insist on dx to be able to play. Could you post error messages

It works on directX up 8.1 but not on anything higher.
Any suggestions ?

That's really strange for something such as that to happen. A random guess would be to install DX8, but Im not too sure that it'll work

tried a reinstall of dx8 didn't work.

You could try DirectX Eradicator to remove the DX9,but if this fails/wrecks your OS,then be prepared to reinstall from the beginning.

make sure you drivers for the graphics card are up to date.(dx9 compatable) nvidia click here ati click here

then install direct x9b click here

9a had some problems with it as some of the files were beta.click start/run an type "dxdiag" click ok.click the "system" tab and if its reported as 9a then download 9b.

click the direct x files" tab and look and see if the are beta or retail.retail is 9b(all but one) this is more stable.but you do need dx 9 compatable drivers for the card first before installing.

click the display tab and run the directdraw and direct3d tests also.any errors?

ps.direct x9 is fully backwards compatable with direct x 8.1 cards.will work fine.
