A friend has a laptop running win98, with no cd-rom.
He has also a desktop, Xp home.
He wants to network the two together so he can install software on the laptop using the cd-rom in his desktop. If the laptop proves able to run the software in question, he may well get a CD-rom for it (and buy the laptop), but does not want to buy a cd-rom, just to find the laptop (which he has borrowed) wont be up to he task he wants to use it for.
He has a parallel pc-pc cable, but the laptop does not have the 'direct cable connection' component under 'comunications' installed. I have a copy of win 98, on cd, but have no idea which files on the cd i will need to transfer to floppy to load on the laptop.
I can download a prog to do the job, but have no network setup experiance, so dont know what programs to look for to acomplish the task.
The laptop is here with me, as is the pc-pc cable.
All i need to do is get it and my PC to talk, and then i can return the laptop, ready for him to use.
