Difference between XP Pro retail & XP Pro oem

Documentation with OEM is minimal and as you assume the position of system builder you also assume the support role, so don't expect any help from Microsoft if anything goes pear shaped. The license is also non transferable. Other than that I think the disks are much the same.

The licence demands that XP OEM is purchased with a new machine (or major parts to build a machine) and is not transferable. In other words, it is always tied to that machine.

The Retail version can be loaded on any single machine and is transferable, providing the original installation is permanently no longer in use. Therefore, you could load it on one machine, when you were finished with that machine, wipe the hard drive of the operating system and load it onto a new machine.

The major difference is the lack of support with OEM microsoft offers no support whereas with a full retail version it does
