Hi all i have built a PC from components off my brother, I have tried to use my 2 OLD hard drives I know i have to install a fresh XP (from boot up) on top of the 1 installed on my HD but it wont let me.
If I try n install it on the now 'C' drive it freezes on blue screen right at the beginning.
Then if i try the 'D' drive which only has a full albums on it just comes up with a load of jargon across my screen.
Im at a loss with this friggin prob i have tried different Hard drives different discs different CD roms. Used only 1 HD and 1 stick of ram and swapped them in all ways possible. Perhape im just missing something really basic but im just not sure what....
Any ideas? PLEASE!!!

Are you setting the CD drive as the first boot device and booting with the XP CD in the drive?

Wipe the drive with Killdisk click here or DBan click here before starting the XP installation.

Skidzy thanks for that but I get as far as windows is loading files thats when it freezes I will try and do what brundle says, although I didnt think just having a album of music on a hard drive would matter.

Fruit yes it is I always set my bios to a standard order of CD 1st then HD 2nd.

Try going into the BIOS - look for "Fail-Safe" settings, and set the BIOS to use those.
