Dial up error

My friend has a dial up internet connection, that connects fine thorugh freeserve. when he types in an internet address, he gets the following message and the web page wont load.

C:windows/system32/shdoclcD11/DN error.htn


or thereabouts. He us using windows xp

any ideas guys???

Don't know the error message but ask your mate to type this into run

sfc /scannow

It will repair any system files that are missing or corrupted.

does the sfc command work with windiws xp??????

he also doesnt have an original windows disk how does he fix corrupt or missing files without it

Does sfc work on XP..yep it sure does. It's a different story though if you don't have the disk. Theoretically sfc /scannow should default to a registry entry which provides
a pointer to the install location but then again.....
