Device Manager Green Question marks

  siouxah1 11:26 02 Aug 2003

Have recently built new machine with USB 2 support. Have loaded drivers.

No usb 2 peripherals being used.

Both ports ready work OK with USB 1 peripheral.

Device manager gives from 4 to 5 green background question marks. All show drivers loaded and working correctly.

What is the significance of these green question marks? All help greatfully accepted.

Green question marks can occur with the following USB device classes: Keyboards, mice, and Universal Serial Bus (USB) hubs. USB printers usually do not directly exhibit this issue, and thus are not affected by green question marks. This indicates that an exact (device-specific) driver is not available, and that a compatible driver has been installed. This new feature was implemented so that you can use the device, even if an exact driver is not available. Even if a device contains a green question mark, most if not all of the features will function properly.

Thanks for that bvw in bristol,

Much appreciated, I have never come across these before.

Will mark as resolved.
