Detecting proxy settings problem on BB

  bobbyp 13:05 29 Jan 2003

I have NTL broadband. It works most of the time but I sometime click on IE and I get the message Detecting Proxy Settings. It then sits there for minutes then I get "unable to display page". The only way I can then connect to the internet is by rebooting. Any ideas how I get around this problem?

There should be no need to use proxy settings with a single PC, using IE and connected to NTL.

To check whether you have proxy settings enabled, open IE, click Tools > Internet Options > Connections > LAN settings. If it is ticked, untick the 'Use a proxy server...' box.

If you have a setup other than a single PC connected to a set-top box or cable modem, please describe your setup in more detail.

It is a standalone PC. I will check this setting this evening and, if necessary, look at the links. Thanks again
