Desktop Icon I cannot remove

  .:?:. 20:49 14 Jul 2006

I have the sony ericsson file manager icon on my desktop that I want to remove.

However there are no option by right clicking or using 'delete' button so I cannot simply remove it.

Is there a way I can remove it?

Try removing it in safe mode.

Can you simply drag it to the recycle bin?

It will not drag to the recycle bin.

Also I have tried the icon clean up wizard but this did not succed either.

Do you still need the Sony Ericsson program it refers to?

If not, do a Search for Sony Ericsson and delete everything it finds and then clean up any leftovers with click here

I do still need the program.

I have just tried getting rid of it in safe mode but this also did not work.

OK, seems to me that you now have 2 options:

1). Live with the icon

2). Un-install the program which MIGHT also remove the icon (or then remove as above). Then re-install the program - and hope it doesn't put a new desktop icon back or decline an icon if that's an option during install

The icon doesn't show up when I browse for it under desktop. So i cannot delete it using this program.

Try this
Right click on the icon to find out its full name then do a search for this. In the search reults you will see it as file type 'shortcut'. Left click on it and press delete key.
