Desktop has turned 90 degs.

An elderly relative has just phoned me. She has Win XP ( not sure about SP2). With flat panel and wireless connection to phone line.
She has switched on and the screen has now revolved 90 degs. ( Ideal for when lying down!!)
Was OK earlier today.
PC works OK. Re starts don't cure it.
Never happened to me so unable to help.
Neighbour slightly PC literate couldn't solve it.
Would appreciate help for her.

It may be Ati Graphics right click the Ati icon in System tray to change it back to proper orientation

You may have to go to Display Properties in Control Panel

Can't see any facility there on my PC.
Suppose I could try and guide her through a system restore. There doesn't appear to be any facility on her monitor.

Does ctrl-alt-left or right arrow key do anything to help?

  John B 17:07 30 Aug 2007

sorry ... left or UP arrow keys.

John B
Just tried that on mine and it deleted all my web history, but did nothing to the screen! No probs there.
Have found an option in my nVidea properties to rotate. I expect she just has on board graphics. Will check with her.

New version of story.
She now tells me she was actually working on PC when a book dropped on the keyboard!!!!
She has done Ctl/Alt/arrows and cured it.
Sorry to have bothered both of you.

You might have bothered the others, but for me that's information learned and stored!

Thanks to all.
