Denied access to directory on HD

I have recently , with the help of the Forum, reinstalled XP Sp2. Previously I had a dual boot system with W98 on drive C:, XP on F: and H: was a storage disc.
I have given up W98; I now have XP on C: and two spare drives, D: and E:.
When I attempt to open the directory
E:\Documents and Settings\Peter\My Documents I get the error 'Access is denied".
I can open the matching directories on the other two discs.
Has anyone any idea what I must do to get at this directory?? - I want to read the RECYCLER file (E:RECYCLED is in the wrong format for me).

See my posting 'PC Advisor Helpline'. The access problem is resolved but I still can't get at the recycled bin in the format I want.

ComputerBoy Sorry I thought I had ticked this as resolved a couple of days ago. I had to give myself permissions - see a couple of more recent postings. But I have still not resolvedf my real problem - how do I get at the Recycled Bin on that drive??? :-)

Thanks for the response
