DELL XPS series with Sigma Tel sound

  STREETWORK 19:43 28 Mar 2008

Just to help those with an XPS Dell PC running Sigma Tel audio drivers, this response from Dell today.

Uninstall the simatel drivers i.e. uninstall the Sigmatel driver via Control panel/Programs/Uninstall a
Program, reboot and SP1 should be offered. Be aware that if you have that file (stwrt.sys for 32bit) in a Dell drivers folder, you will want to delete that folder and any other folders with that file prior to rebooting. When you see SP1 offered, the install should work and install the Vista Sigmatel driver.

Worked for me...
