My pal has rung and told me that his PC keeps showing incorrect time on restart. Sounds like the CMOS batt goin west. Can anyone advise what battery is suitable as he is twenty miles away and I only want to visit once.?

If it’s a Desktop they are nearly all the same about as big as a 1p piece silver colour lithium

PS think they are about 3.3 volts

Hi Jock1e, I have reset the time via Teamviewer but if he leaves it off for a day or two the time goes wonky. Think it's pretty new as it runs Win 7 with an i5 processor.

Legslip, here's the Dell webpage which shows the specifications for that particular model. So specifically, you need to buy a 3 volt CR2032 lithium coin cell battery. That's a common type and they're available in lots of places including supermarkets.

Sounds like a fault with the Motherboard.
