My friend bought a Dell laptop a year ago and just last week found that every time he touched any part of it with any force it would turn itself off. Could anyone tell me if he will need to just get a new laptop or if this sort of problem can be fixed.

He has been onto someone and they have the same problem which they cant solve.

Any help would be great.

Had a similar problem, but with one only a few weeks old. Turned out to be a motherboard fault. It was obviously still under guarantee but I was still impressed with Dell's service. After someone had spent a long time on phone with me and having had no success at 7pm on the Wednesday he arranged a collection on the Friday. Bearing in mind it was a bank holiday weekend I was very impressed to get it back the following Wednesday.
Seeing it is less than a year old why not get in touch with them?

It may be the Hard Drive that responds to shock, and shuts down
