Dell laptop screen problem

  toga 14:07 21 Jul 2007

I am using a Dell Inspiron 9300 laptop (OS Win XP Pro). When I use the laptop on battery power the display is considerably darker.

However, when I use the laptop from power adapter (mains) the display is ok.

Any ideas?

To the power saving features of your laptop, and is not a fault.

Most laptops do this to conserve energy when running on battery power. If you want to change it try looking in the power settings feature, where you can overide this.

If you have the screen running on full brighness, your battery life will be reduced.

When using the Inspiron on battery power you can increase/decrease the screen brightness by holding down the Fn key and using the up and down arrows. You can also set the Bios settings to the settings you want.

All thanks for the help; the tip regarding using the Fn and arrow key worked.
