Dell Inspiron 5100 speakers not working

I have a dell Inspiron 5100 Intel Pentium 4 and the speakers don’t what to work I can plug in headphones and they work but when I take them out I just get silence. Can some one help me?

Do you plug the headphones into the same socket? If so, it is likely a problem with the speakers. IT could be something simple like they are not powered properly.



If you connect the headphones to a different socket, then check in control panel, sounds and multimedia for anything that is muted.

Is the headphone port the same place that you are connecting the speakers into.

What sort of speaker system is is? Stereo, 2.1, 5.1 etc?

it is a laptop and the spekers are built in

I just did a test to see if it was the sound drivers I played some music and tried recording it with stereo mix and it worked with no music coming out of the speakers but it recorded so it seems to be some thing wrong with my speakers
