At the moment i have a 16x max.dvd +/-rw with dual layer write capability which is u/s. I would like to replace this with an upgrade dvd rw can any body help me with some suggestions. how easy is it to repace?

Very easy

Two cables power and IDE on rear.
set the jumper the same as the old one.

may just be four screws to fasten into the case
or may be a caddy clips into the case and the drive is srewed into the caddy.

You don't even need to mess with drivers or software afterwards.

Fruit Bat is right. Replacing the DVD is a very straight forward task. Just make sure all the cables are seated firmly in their sockets before closing the case-as it is easy to nudge one loose when working on the innards. best to use an earthing strap too if you have one
