Deleting search history

  Marvin Grunt 10:12 01 Sep 2004

Each time I search for a file by name or by a word or phrase in windows XP, it appears that a record of that search is made in the registry. It appears in HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-...\Software\ Microsoft\Search Assistant\ACMru\5603 or 5604.
Is there a simple and safe way to clear this history?

In IE6 Tools>Internet Options>Content>Autocomplete and click 'clear forms'.

The fix suggested by 'no name' does not seem to work. I completed the actions and restarted the computer, but the items were still in the registry.
