deleting partitions??

  Keithrow 17:07 02 Oct 2005

I have salvaged the hard drive from a previous computer and have converted it into an external drive for my new machine, thanks to DieSse for his help on that. I intend to use it for backup. However it has 4 partitions of unequal sizes, it's a 40GB drive. I would like to change the setup so that there are two partitions of equal size. The data on the disk is now safely transferred onto the new computer, another backup ploy, and can now be deleted from the original. Can this be done and if so how? The new machine works on XP while the old computer used W98.
Many thanks in anticipation. Keith
