I want to hand over my relatively new PC to a child for internet browsing and word homework. I want to delete all the data files and programmes (if necesassary) but not the windows XP operating system. Is this possible is there a programme on a cover disc which will do this Thanks
is reformat the harddrive, and then reinstall windows - I'm afraid to delete all other data would be very tricky, mainly because of the stuff that would be left in the registry. It will also take forever!
If you're handing over the PC to a child, I wonder whether you need to worry about deleting any more securely than normal. Is the child a PC whizz who will have an interest in trying to restore your deletions?
If not, then surely all you have to do is delete your data files/folders and uninstall your software. After doing this, it's probably a good idea also to defrag your hard drive.
