Deleting "Access Denied" folders

  Mark Seven 03:45 26 Jan 2006

I restored files from a backup under Win XP and now have a folder chain I can't get rid of called c:\Restored Files\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data.

When I try to delete I get the 'Access Denied' message, obviously because these are restored system files.

I tried starting in Safe Mode Command Prompt but the del *.* /s doesn't shift the folder either.

Any ideas?

Try "taking ownership" of the Files/Folders per this Microsoft article:

I had the same problem and this fixed here

The Microsoft article does work. I had missed the necessity of logging on as Administrator to access the 'Security' tab in folder Properties - I had just been using Safe Mode Command Line.

Thanks for you help, all.
