I have been advised that after re-formatting my hard drive I cannot fully get rid of XP previously installed but that there is a piece of software that will do this. Is this true and if so from where can I download the software?Porthyde7
Unless you have sensitive data on your hard drive then a normal format will do and you will be able to install an os on your newly formatted drive.
You may need to delete the existing partitions and create new ones, this can be done by booting with a win 9.x bootdisk and running fdisk.
jeez says it all .xp is easiest to delete by fdisk ,delete all partitions .and make active one come out and format with the xp disk in ,having made the cdrom first boot in bios
