delete lines in MSCONFIG

Hi, can it be done? if so how? or will the lot all land up going down the kermit. I just want to tidy it all up.

If you mean the startup lines in the msconfig you will have to edit the registry to delete these items:

In Win98:-

Back up registry

Open registry edit: ie run Regedit

Go to :-.

click on the line(s) you wish to remove and delete that line. . . . repeat through all relevant sub trees

and you may also have entries here :-.

click on the line you wish to remove and delete that line

As spikeychris says. What lines? If you mean the lines in autoexec.bat and config.sys windows doesn't need these files but there is no point in deleting them because windows will automatically create new ones the next time you boot your computer.

thanks all, i did not make it clear,did i? i did mean the programmes without the ticks in the boxes, but i saw the word "registry" so i had better leave it alone.
