degradation in display quality on my laptop

Not sure if this is solvable, but any ideas would be welcome.

A couple of weeks back I cleaned up my laptop to try to improve its performance.

I removed some unwanted stuff, including earlier restore points, and ran ccleaner on the machine, registry etc.

Since then the quality of images on the internet is less detailed than before. It only happens when when browsing the web, it's the same on IE, Chrome and Firefox. I do not have a problem when looking at things on the laptop itself eg my pictures.

I checked all the control panel display settings, they look correct to me.

I tried doing a system restore, but as I had removed earlier restore points during the cleanup, the earliest one I could restore to did not cure the problem.

Any ideas please?
