Defender still running a check -- after 8 hours

  Florio 22:24 14 Feb 2009

I have had Windows Defender programmed to run a check every afternoon at 3 pm for quite a while now, and I've only ever notice one occasion on which the analysis went for quite a while. Today, however, it's been running for over 8 hours. I tried to interrupt the program, but it would appear to be blocked at: C:\Windows\winsxs\x86_microsoft-windows-migrationengine_31bf3856ad364e35_6.0.6001.18000_none_58a7d7b2db3ffcd4\csiagent.dll.
Does anyone know why this may have happened, and what I can do about it in the future? (I'm about to go to bed now, and will just turn the PC off).
For the record, I have Vista Home Premium, and Avast Antivirus.

You may have a corrupt file in Defender. You could try either reinstalling Defender over the top as a repair or replacing the csiagent.dll which may be causing the problem click here
