At the end of the holidays I encypted several photographs using windows xp. Sadly my computer crashed and I had to do a clean reinstall of xp.
What I did not realise was that this reinstallation meant my encryption key was lost. The photographs are no longer able to be viewed, they are picures of me and the missus on the beach when she was topless, so nothing untoward. I would be very grateful for any advice that is offered that enables me to retrieve the images.
I am aware that this kind of request is somewhat delicate in these times, and if it is thought that advice on this matter is against the general well being of the forum, perhaps advice could be offered by PM.

I think without the encryption key it may not be possible.

Anyway see if this is any help: How to remove file or folder encryption in Windows XP click here. G

I think you may have lost the pictures. However you could try click here (expensive) but before that read this article click here it may save you money.

Did you make any backup that might help?
