Dead Dell Monitor

Dell monitor has died and all I want to know is whether there is anything I can do to check whether it is terminal?

There seems to be no power so I've changed the fuse and used different power cord, re-started PC after unplugging, reconnected all cables and have now run out of ideas.

Monitor is 18 months old so out of guarantee.

I know they practice built in obsolescence, but could do without this!

If I need a new one, can anyone suggest a decent 19in flatscreen for sensible money (don't play games so speed resolution not an big issue).

Were you using it when 'it died' and power light went off?

or did it just not work when you went to use it?

I'm thinking maybe it is just the power button got pressed to off by mistake (when dusting, cleaning or even if someone else had been using pc and they switched the monitor off as well)

My son was using it and said it seemed to go to the dell startup screen and then went dead.

It may be good news, I checked the Dell site and I still have an active warranty until Nov 2008, but I'll bet the monitor is 12 months only!!

Have to call them tomorrow and find out.

Try turning it on again.If you get the Dell startup screen again it means Windows is not booting.
