Run through the usual scans with antivirus and antispyware apps, update them and reboot into safe mode and run them from in there.

For antivirus I used Avast free and very good the other main free choice is AVG.

Antispyware products

Windows Defender
Ewido
Adaware SE
Spybot Search & Destroy

Those are all free

Free firewall Zonealarm

Have you got any antivirus installed at the mo or firewall?

norton came with the machine

You shouldn't install more than one antivirus program or firewall at a time.

Im not a fan of norton myself so I would recommend when your subscription runs out uninstall norton and put the free ones on.

In the meantime download the antispyware apps and run scans through with them.
