De-optimising Tiny modem

I have a Tiny PC which I have recently found out has an 'optimised' dialup modem which will only work with Supanet. It is ok with broadband but I now want to use it for a dialup connection in another setting. All online references to this problem seem a few years old and the resolutions put forward have not worked for me. I have even tried reinstalling Supanet but get error 775 when I try to connect. My question is this: if I replace the modem card will it then be de-optimised?
O/S is XP Home SP1
Any help or advice gratefully received.

Many thanks Joe R - problem sorted.
Couldn't find the right modem driver myself but uninstalling existing one and letting PC do an online search found one that works perfectly.
Thanks again - you're a star.
