DDR RAM Memory speeds

Hi all

Just a quick question. I have bought 2 Corsair XMS3200 1GB (2x512MB) 400Mhz click here

It says the speed is 400mhz, however, Everest reports them at 200mhz each stick.

Is this right?

Do i have to change the settings in BIOS

"Do i have to change the settings in BIOS" - Yes, you may have to - no harm in checking there.

But don't be surprised if Everest still reports them at 200Mhz click here. G

No you don't, they are double data rate modules therefore 200mhz = 400mhz.

De Marcus - I wasn't aware of that, thanks. G

If they are 400mhz then surely they should be reported as so?

Or am i missing something?

The main thing is the generic code PC3200 which is what the xms3200 really is.This means your memory supports a bandwidth of 3.2GB.Hence PC2700 will be 2.7GB bandwidth etc. etc.

Your AMD processor has an inbuilt multiplier of 2 so the BIOS at default will set memory at 200MHz making 400MHz when multiplied.
