DDR PC2-5200 Ram- Crucial doesn't sell it?

  buel 16:34 03 Apr 2011

I ran the Crucial Scanner on my friend's computer and while it was able to determine what Ram is in the computer (it says two 512mb sticks but when i choose Properties on My Computer it only says 768mb or Ram)it stated that they dont sell any modules for this computer.
Please can someone clarify why not?
And are they DDR1?
Thank you in advance!

A bit more info than 'my friends computer' or 'this computer', is needed. Desktop/laptop/make/model/OS etc ... ?

Well i've used SIW to get these details:
The computer manufacturer and product name is:
Manufacturer- Packard Bell By
Product name- Imedia 1559
It says the maximum capacity is 2gb.

Will that Ram do the job?
Is it classed as 'DDR1'?

After a few searches, it most likely needs DDR2 RAM. Two other sites that say 2 slots present & 4Gb max click here & click here. Very expensive though, so you should try elsewhere.

Any DDR2 RAM that meets the following criteria will be OK I reckon:

- 240pin
- 1.8V
- PC2-4200 OR PC2-5300
- Unbuffered
- Unregistered
- Non-ECC
- Low density

If you let us know how much you want to upgrade / want to spend, we can provide a few links. G

have you physically opened the computer to look at the ram and to see what type of ram it is, don't forget to ground yourself.

Well, another thing I've been able to find out is that the motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-8TRC410MNF-RH click here, which uses the same DDR2 RAM with a max of 4Gb, i.e. 2x2Gb modules. G
