DDR memory

I have 512mb of DDR 333mhz (on two boards) with a number PC2700U, I have found another board from my old computer with 256mb of DDR 266mhz with a number PC2100U. Would the older board be compatible with the others or will I end up just confusing the system with two different clock speeds?

The PC2100 memory will almost certainly run alonside the PC2700 memory you are using. However there could be incompatibilities which could lead to errors and system crashes. At worst the pc might not even boot.

The only way to find out is put the slower memory in the computer at switch it on.....you will soon know if it works ok.

Do bear in mind though that all your memory will run at the speed of the slowest stick....so you would have 756MB of ram running at PC2100 speed which might perform worse than the original 512MB at PC2700.

Thankyou, I thought there may be some performance issue, I'll check out the prices of 512mb DDR 333mhz and treat myself to a gig overall.

Thanks again
