hi my memory slots on my mainboard, i have 4, the first one doesnt seem to register, whenever i put my memory in, correctly seated wont boot up, use 2 3 and 4 it seems ok, any help appriciated as i have 2,2gb corsair sticks but only states that i have only 3 gb of memory when using other slots, am running windows 7 home cheers Paul
There is more info click here It seems 32 bit os can't use ram above 3gig. Why slot 1 is not functional is hard to say, have you researched the MB on the web? it may be this slot is for a differnt type of memeory.
you use either slots 1 and 3 from the cpu or slots 2 and 4. 2 x 2Gb of corsair should be fine if it's ddr2 800mhz or slower. If you use faster ram you must use a AM2+ or AM3 cpu to get the best results.
If the bios registers 4Gb of memory and windows registers just 3Gb. That is normal.
If the bios just sees 3Gb and the above are correct, try clearing the cmos via the battery and rescanning the bios on boot up. Or use the bios to clear NVram and reboot.
