DDE Server Window, problem shutting down

  Alexandros 12:03 06 May 2004

Hello guys,

Maybe somebody can help me with this problem?
Sometimes when I shut down my PC I receive the following message.

DDE Server window
This program is not responding...
I think this problem started when I downloaded the latest security update for IE.
My OS is windows 98SE.

Any ideas?
Many thanks

It stands for Dynamic Data Exchange. A lot of
programs implement it. What are you running in the background? If you press
Ctrl+Alt+Del before shutdown, what is listed?

Sorry, what apps are running?

  Alexandros 11:35 07 May 2004

What do you mean? I've listed all the programmes that are running in the background.

This may not work, but before you shut down your PC, try terminating CCapp.exe. This is related to Norton Antivirus, and I often find that I have trouble either shutting down the computer or accessing my mail server because of it hanging.

Manually closing this program and restarting the computer usually does the trick.

I don't know what I did but the problem is solved!
Probably because I cleaned my registry with regclean. Anyways the problem is solved.
Thanks to everyone that tried to help.
