In the past I used Exel I could insert the date by using ctrl + ;

Does anyone know if there is a similar shortcut in Open Office?

Click on Insert>Fields>Date, I don't think there is a actual short-cut.

I cant see Fields in Insert, I'm running OO 3.0.0RC3
however it was a shortcut I was hoping/looking for.
Thanks for your reply

To assign a script/function to a key combination
1.Choose Tools - Customize - Keyboard.
2.A list of the functions will appear in the Functions list box. In this case Category "Insert" Function "Time"
3.Select a key combination from the Shortcut keys list box and click "Modify."

Hopefully version 3 works the same.

Or even "insert" function date "Date".

My suggestion above was assuming you meant the Writer part of Open Office. If you mean the Spreadsheet (Org-Calc) part, then the short-cut to bring up the date/settings is Ctrl/F2

Thanks I will look at this later ,I'm just off out now

Belatucadrus,
Well I have tried your suggestion but not succeeded,as in my version there is no "Date" or "Time" in function list.

My bad
I hadn't noticed that the insert list on Calc and Writer were so different, an elementary and stupid mistake on my part, sorry but I have yet to find a way of assigning a date to a key stroke in Calc. I'll get back if I do

Cheers! I will get back likewise

Can be done with a Macro, but it's a pain in the behind.
