Data transfer

I have a large number of music files on my desktop pc, that i want to move onto my laptop, far more than you could copy onto a couple of CD's. Is there any way i can transfer the files using a USB link, or network. I use my laptop to log onto my desktop to share the broadband, but i can not see the folders of my desktop from my laptop.

Move them from the desktop to a folder and then set up a share to access them from the laptop?

...have you run the network setup wizard?

Go to [Start], [Run], [Enter]
Type netsetup [Enter]

At the part where it asks about file and printer sharing, make sure you allow these...

...good luck!

...I re-read your post and realised you are not using a router.

You should look into this rather than a simple cable link between the machines.
