Anyone know the difference between DDS1, DDS2, DDS3 and DDS4 data tapes?

Thanks

High Tower, I think its to define the size of tape: tapes 60m / 90m (DDS1). 120m (DDS2), 125m (DDS3) & 150m (DDS4). If i'm wrong somebody will correct me.

Just to confirm this, I have looked at the ones I carry with me from work. They are DDS4 150m and hold upto 40Gb of data.

I figured that it was something to do with that. I assume that all are compatible with DDS tape drives, it's just the capacity that changes.

Thanks for the reply.

You are right in assuming all are compatible with any DDS tape drives Hightower, whether it be Sony, FujiFilm or whom ever they are all standard size tape cartridges. I use Sony and FujiFilm ones for the backup drives at work no problem with them at all.
