Recently on my Dell laptop i had the following message appear:
(Heading)
Data Execution Prevention - Microsoft Windows
(message)
To help protect your computer, windows has closed this program.
NAME:Generic host process for win32 services
PUBLISHER:microsoft Windows.

Since this message my machine runs slower and my picture on my desktop only appears when i am turning my machine off and when the machine is running the background is blue, all icons are there but no desktop picture.

Does anybody know how i can rectify this or get this file back?

Control Panel, System, Advanced Tab, Performance Settings button, Data Execution Prevention tab.

No idea what this does but mine is set to 'Turn on DEP for essential....' rather than 'Turn on DEP for all programs...'
