One of my PCs has been infected with some sort of spyware. The wallpaper (blue with a black box) now states that there is a windows error, the system detects spyware and some functions are blocked out etc. Also a dialer box keeps coming up for a £1.50 per min adult line and the icon on the desktop keeps reappearing however many times I delete it!

I have run endless programmes, spybot, MS spyware, spyhunter, search & destroy.. but to no avail!

Where am I going wrong? any help would be most appreciated.

Ok clean out any temporary files temporary internet and your temp file folder which you can access from the run prompt by typing %temp%.

Disable system restore as nastys can hide in there right click my computer properties system retore take the tick out of use system restore. Note that this will erase all your system restore points and do not forget to switch back on after you have got rid of the problem.

Make sure all of the above programs are updated and then run a full scan again in safe mode I would also add a2 to the list click here and adware click here and also run a full scan with your anti virus app.

If the problem is still there after this then download hijack this from click here and post the logfile to click here and they will help sort you out

HI, the full message on the desktop reads, WINDOWS ERROR, system has detected spyware activity, some system functions are blocked out, windows recomends that you clean out your pc with a spyware removal tool, this has to be done as soon as possible to prevent loss of data..its a blue background with the text in a black box in the centre.

1) Go to here first and follow the instructions....click here

2) Then download MS Antispy from click here and delete all it finds.

3) Ignore slimvice's 'words of wisdom'.
