I am wondering if i could butcher my ruter and use it as an Intranet (no not an internet AN INTRANET to host things?

Setup the site up on the server. Set static IP for the server and DHCP for rest. Set DNS to point to the web site. Plug all the computers in.

There you have your own Intranet.

Good luck

Yes, you can 'network' the computers with a 16-port switch but, in the absence of the router which is a DHCP server, you will need to configure the computers manually with their IP addresses.

Yes as mgmcc states.
