D-Link DSL 200 ADSL Modem - Settings Question

  JayDay 14:31 25 Mar 2005

I am trying to help a friend connect to the Internet via a Broadband connection with Virgin.net.

They have a D-Link DSL200 ADSL Modem. Unlike all other ADSL modems I have used this one requires some quite specialised settings information. Virgin unable to assist as they don't support modems other than the one they supply.

1. I need to select either ATM Drivers, Lan Drivers or WAN Drivers????

2. I need to know the VPI, VCI, Encapsulation, and Modulation settings???

These mean absolutely nothing to me. Any ideas? I have tried a Google search without much success.

VPI, VCI, Modulation, Encapsulation and Authentication Settings
Typical settings for ADSL in the UK are as follows:

VPI = 0,

VCI = 38

ADSL Modulation Auto, then try G.DMT, then try ANSI T1.413

Encapsulation Mode PPP over ATM (PPPoA - RFC2364) VC-MUX

BTW use the WAN drivers.

Thanks spikeychris. I won't be able to try these for a few days so I'll mark as resolved and start a new thread if I find a problem.
