D-link Driver Update Nightmare.....

  Big L 266 14:01 03 Nov 2010

For the past 30 minutes,I have been trying to get an update installed from D-link concerning my router DSL-2740R. I have downloaded their zip file but cannot do anything with it as I get a message as follows:-

"This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action.Create an association in the Set Associations Control Panel".

I don't have anything with this wording in my Control Panel. My computer is a Dell Studio 540 operating Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit. I have not updated their drivers for the past 10 months.

I was hoping this would be a quick simple exercise, but it seems I need a degree in computer science to get this to work! Only D-link could make a mountain out of mole hill!

Any help suggestions and advice would be warmly welcomed before the router ends up under a bus!

Thank you in advance for your help.

Thank you for your kind help. I sorted it out with Talk Talk and all is now right with the computer.
