Is there any particular reason why this file should be giving an end program error everytime I shutdown?

....cannot end...may need more time..return to windows and chack status of program....if you chose to close you will loose any unsaved data etc etc

running XP pro

"cmd.exe" is the Command Prompt window and shouldn't normally be running, unless you have specifically launched it.

Make sure that it isn't being started either in "msconfig" or from a shortcut in the "Startup" folder. To access "msconfig", go to "Start > Run", type msconfig and click OK. Have a look in the Startup tab.

Hi, There's something called hkcmd.exe which is something to do with configuration and diagnostic options of Intel multimedia devices.

There is also something called hcontrol.exe which I have disabled in startup vis msconfig as this was causing an error 'could not find....' each time windows started up and is only required for the setup of hotkeys on an asus notebook.

It appears neither are essential processes.

....am trying to work out which programs are causing these to run. Cannot find anything which refers to asus hotkey setup. Wonder if someone might have removed this incorrectly....?
