Curser "lag" when working web pages

My Dektop PC hs developed a "curser lag" for want of a better description. By this I mean that when moving the curser arrow over a "button" it takes some time before it changes to the "finger" mode so that the button can be utilized.
There is also a delay in a page or field becoming active i.e. blinking curser.
This problem has only appeared recently.
I am running XP with 3GB RAM.

Many thanks for any help you can give.

Have you checked the pointer speed from Control Panel>Mouse>Pointer Speed tab?

Mine's only half way but reacts immediately.

System restore ? if it's something that has just happened recently.

One other point. Did you acquire the mouse with the system or separately and install drivers for it?

The Windows drivers and the second mouse drivers, if that is the case, might be clashing.

Seems it's/can be a problem with Logitech models and the answer is usually to Disable KHALMNPR entries in MSCONFIG.

The problem has been fixed with system restore.
Thanks mooly.
