Current identity missing.

I cannot automatically activate my email Outlook Express browser, and have to enter my password each time in a Log-in menu, although it is entered in my account with the password remembered. Suspect Norton email scanning has corupted the registry, and email scanning has now been disabled.

My Log-in states "There is no current identity" but on my Manage Identities menu "Main Identity" is listed to start a program, and on my Switch Identities menu the current identity is "Main Identity" In Manage Identities the only option appears to be change password.

I have created a new identity in OE, but it has the identical fault.

Any help to solve this annoying fault would be much appreciated.
