Can anyone either tell me how to or point me at a good document describing how best to create a script or simple program which can display a simple popup or message every time a user logs on to Windows 98 please?

I was thinking along the lines of something which could be placed under each user's startup folder under
C:\WINDOWS\Profiles\username\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

so that it is displayed each evey time they log in. I don't want to have to use a scheduler or something which runs permanently in the background, or something which would only display the message once a day, I just need something which displays a message for a second or so & then disappears or goes when user presses Enter key.

Grateful for any help,
Andy.

There is a tool in tweaking utility X-Setup which should do what you want.

Thankyou, I shall have a look at X-Setup as it may have plenty of other things of interest as well - I have been using TweakUI until now.

In the meantime I have also written a simple one-line Windows Script .js file & placed it under Programs/Startup which writes a popup message when each user logs in.

Ummm well you can actually send a message to another use by going > Right Click task bar > Task Manager > User > Right click the user > Send Message...

They have to be logged on thats the catch.
